GPS Tracking for my trucks |
Lead | ||
|
I need a quality company who can deliver the answers I need. I first need GPS systems in all my trucks (14). Next I need to know when the PTO is engaged. Also
I need a nice stand alone system that I can monitor from the flat screen on the wall, also I must be able in connect to it remotely. If any more bells and
whistles in the package let me know.

Onscene Solutions makers of InTow Manager, has a awesome solution for tracking all of your trucks!!. I currently use the system and it's truly amazing!!
They also the towing software called InTow Manager and there tracking system integrates with the software. So when you enter a call into the dispatch program
all you do is click closest resource and it automatically locates the closest AVAILABLE truck to dispatch (it even knows what's a flatbed or Wheelift when
looking for the closest truck, so it doesn't tell you that a Wheelift is the closest when you need a flatbed...it's pretty damn cool!!!)
CHECK OUT THERE WEBSITE: http://www.onscene-solutions.com/towing-software/intow-gps.asp or Call Onscene Solutions (Ask for Dennis Thurlow) 330-220-8111 ext. 212

alot for fuel taxes , and we set up all out service notifications on it for oil changes and what not im sure they have many more options that we are not aware

Hey Brandon,
Thanks for the kind words and here are the products we sell and support: We are dealers for two, very high
quality, GPS Fleet Tracking systems. Both integrate with the InTow Manager
Dispatch board for those running our software. I can do online demonstrations of these products for anyone interested as well...
US Fleet Tracking
This company offers some unique features that towing companies will certainly appreciate. Many of the systems on the market today are focused around fixed route business or long haul trucking, with GPS update rates ranging from 1 minute to 15 minutes. If I'm a long haul driver on I-94, this is a more than adequate update rate.
But as an emergency response organization with ETA sensitive service calls, I want to know where my trucks are immediately. The US Fleet Tracking solution is the only GPS system on the market today that offers 10 second or 5 second GPS update rates at very reasonable rates - you literally see your trucks moving on your mapping software in real time! Sending the closest available truck by equipment type is much more accurate.
Some other key features of the system are the ability to track PTO engagements (not so unique), lock and unlock doors, honk the horn at the driver if he/she is speeding or driving recklessly, disable or enable the starter on the truck, and remote start the vehicle. It has many reports as well including a report called the Vapor Trail that will play back a trucks entire route of the day and indicate each time the PTO was engaged.
The system runs on the GSM (AT&T) network.
Navman Wireless
This is for the towing company that is looking for more than just fleet tracking, but also looking for a Messaging platform to communicate with driver electronically, and an In-truck Driver Navigation system, all built into one easy-to-use solution. This system is best of breed in the tracking-messaging-navigation systems arena.
From the office, dispatchers can now have two-way communication with drivers and best of all - can receive all the information from the driver electronically so no phone calls or push to talk required. This has an enormous impact on the stress level of office staff and drivers can send all information into the office without waiting for an available office person. It also creates a much more relaxed environment for customers who may be there picking up vehicles and are already stressed as a result.
Not only can staff communicate with fleet vehicles, but the system also offers the unique feature of being able to send a "service call address" to the truck, and the In-truck navigation system will route the driver from his/her current location, to the "service call address" - all from the office - it is an fantastic feature for both drivers or dispatchers not familiar with a particular vicinity.
Although this system has 2 or 5 minute
updates, it does have a feature called a Query, that allows you to find the exact location of service
vehicle in between the timed updates.
There are many more features that the systems offer and I would be happy to take you through an online demonstration of both products and answer any questions pertaining to price, functions and how it will interact with InTow Manager.
As always, we thank you for your continued
support and look forward to talking in the future.

I use Navman and I am very happy with them ... They have a few options I went with the unit that mounts on the dash as a GPS and it sends reports to me ... It
tells me when the PTO goes on /off I can set up Geo fence and it tells when the truck comes and goes.... Tracks speed braking idle time plus more....You can
replay a day and see what the truck did and when .... Has speed alert....
It has saved me $$$ as I was accused of being in a hit and run ... Well after they looked and saw None of my trucks even on that road all day I was cleared.... And it cleared me with a stolen car ... As I towed the car from the ladies house she said someone stole it ...LOL she was busted !! And I found a driver letting the truck idle at his house while he ate dinner and lunch ....The truck had 300 mins a day in idle time !! I stopped that and saves $$ in wasted fuel... GPS is not just a trust issue its good business... The boss can track costs and see where the trucks are and not have to call the driver and ask Whats your 20 ?? Stay safe Tim

Hi Ron,
Ron I certainly understand your point - hire trustworthy employees and you don't have to worry about driver theft - but as Tim has indicated, it's not simply the employee that you have to worry about - and with a struggling economy, theft is even more pervasive.
There are many business advantages to tracking your vehicles and reporting vehicle positions, that goes beyond driver theft. Of the main benefits of GPS tracking of your fleet and in-truck communication with the service technician, theft is down the list of business advantages and ROI analysis. Some of the main areas that GPS Fleet Tracking can improve your business and reduce its costs are:
• The reduction in miles driven to perform your daily service calls. • The potential reduction in vehicles to perform the same amount of service calls. • A reduction in routing time based on the knowledge of fleet whereabouts by equipment type and availability. • Increased call volume by sending the proper service vehicle to every call. (equipment type and availability) • Dramatic improvements in driver behavior based on the driver being monitored - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reactivity_(research) • Dramatic improvements in customer service as a result of more accurate ETA's and better OnScene times. • Less use of company equipment for personal use. • Knowing your EXACT cost per mile to determine business cost structures - very easily! • Audit trail of routes, speeds and locations for business protection (as Tim has mentioned) • A detailed maintenance program & schedule and all the "green" benefits that accompany a well serviced fleet.
If you have one truck, the justification is obviously less, but as fleet size grows, it's an incredible tool particularly when integrated with the calls on your InTow Manager dispatch board. If I have a call on my dispatch board @ 100 Ron Parrish Way, and can now locate the best truck for that call right from the DISPATCH interface, then message the call details to the truck along with the CALL ADDRESS or CROSS ROAD, and then route the driver to the call on an In-truck navigation unit - this has improved efficiency and cost reduction written all over it! Do that 10, 20, 50, 100 times per day and the investment becomes more than justified. Drivers can be EnRoute to a call with Turn By Turn In-Truck directions, long before traditional call distribution methods…J
OK - commercial over…J Dennis

Truck GPS | #8 | ||
|
Hi Fellows,
You must have noticed that each of our dispatch has different specifications which need us extra hours to ponder or discuss to draw best route to reach the destination at comparatively easiest and more economical way. This great challenge come across each of us now or then. This situation become more troublesome when a new destination has to reach; which was never explored earlier?
Discussing several time on this critical issue, I heard about a computerized solution, Truck GPS, which overcomes the shortcomings to this challenge!
The guy who had been reaping the advantages, introduce me the solution as Truck GPS system. By this system, as told, I can find locations, and receive early warning for bridges, restricted areas, time bound throughways, turns, hospitals, restaurants; almost all POIs which I should know to manage my journey.
This surely sound convincing; but the crux of the problem remains unsolved? What if, my truck specifications are often changed with varied cargo and load? How the Truck GPS system will tackle this issue. Would I've to stop, change, and re-plan my route, at eleventh hours, when it happens all of a sudden; that the road loading capacity is over-run, that the over-head bridge's height is impossible to pass under, that the turn on the road is impossible to negotiate, and so on.
What is mind boggling, is that, a fellow showed me a 5" Touch screen, at a stop-over, and demonstrated how had his route was specifically planned by the Truck GPS system, considering the very truck's load and dimension! Disclosing other features, too, he advised me to ask for the WorldNav Truck GPS, at any auto store or the company for more details.
Could you please send me your feedbacks, if you are in same profession and like to share your knowledge or any type of experience, you had on Truck GPS system?
Thanks.

all of our trucks have GPS and when i first started for them I got yelled at a couple times just to find out that the truck im running is wrong in the dash
lol. But I think its good to a point. it allows our dispatchers to know were we are. Like I just did a run to South Carolina and even though I told one
dispatcher were I was for my ten hour break the forgot to tell the next dispatcher and in stead of waking me they were able to look for my on the map. But
other than that Its like having big brother over your shoulder all the time.

I do not currantly have GPS units in my trucks but all the driver use Garmens, Tom Toms etc to get around. I have In-Towmanager and will eventually have GPS
units integrated with my software. For all those that think GPS is to stop people from stealing concerns me. Why is this the first thing you assume its for?
Sounds like bad Karma. Here's my situation, we used to used Teletrac but the units never worked on a consistant basis. Our goal was to locate drivers when
customers called for updated ETAS, statuses and driver locations, instead of getting on the radio and waiting for the driver to respond we just did a locate.
HERE'S the real DEAL! HPD HIT AND RUN CALLS ONE DAY AND SAID MY DRIVER RAN SOMEONE OVER! The dectective discribed our truck and said he hit a pedestrian on
Jeanetta road while this person was rollar blading and he had witnesses. Well I did a report of the drivers activitys that day and during the time he alegedlly
ran this scam artist over my driver was 15 miles away at the radio shop! Well I faxed this to the dectective and they ended up arresting several people for
filing a false police report. How much was this worth??

Your right about the emergancy angle also. Our units had a Panic Button so we could dispatch EMS or PD to the location the driver activated the panic alarm at.
Another bonus! I also had a driver not responding to his radio or cell phone and we did a locate and found him at the local pool hall/bar, I loaded my Suburban
on his truck and that was the end of Jack's employment with me.
