Search through the posts as I read something reguarding this recently. If I remember it was 9 to 11mpg with or without 1 car on top.

well i have to say bull butter on those figures ive owned several 8.1 in 3500 series trucks and they averaged 8.5 miles to 10miles if loaded heavy ive seen as
little as 4.2 miles to the gallon with the duramax in a 3500 10 to 12 miles to the gallon and in my 5500 with a duramax8 to 9 miles to the gallon so if i had
to geuss i would say a 5500 with 8.1 would only get at the very best would be 6.5 to 8miles to the gallon i hope i did not make no one mad by calling
bullbutter to the other figures sorry if i did later craig

All depends on conditions. All highway, 9-11 sounds right. City streets (like Chicago) probably won't top 7 MPG.
