i got a '05 C5500 6.6 duramax with a alison 1000 trans 110k miles on it
over the past couple days which has been about 1k miles i've lost 15qt of ATF with no external leaks
i've also got a slight misfire at idle
now tonight i checked my engine oil and i have found that it is grossly overfull and thin, so i changed the oil (not due for 5k more miles) and that took care of my misfire
but upon a closer look of my engine oil i realized that i found my missing ATF, so i pulled the rubber plug at the bell housing and got about 1/2-1qt of ATF
i ran the truck without the plug and all i got was a slow drip, now it looks like it might be a front pump seal
but how is it getting into the engine oil
recent repair were 10k ago, i replace a flexplate that was cracked (trying to fix a knock), dealer then replaced 1 rod and piston for a seized wrist pin under warrenty
im going to pull the trans. to take a look and stop the trans leak, but i having trouble buying that the ATF is getting past the rear main seal to get into the crankcase unless there is some other way for it to get in there
any ideas will be helpfull
