Definition of "boom" on a wrecker |

Does anyone know the technical definition of "boom" as it relates to the towing industry. I am assisting with a project for the Highway Patrol in the
area, and we need a true definition for the publication. I know it sounds silly, as we all know what it is and what it does, but I need to know if anyone can
narrow it down to an understandable defintion. Thanks in advance for the help!!

Just as Ed and Kevin said.....
Although sometimes in Hawaii "boom" is a sound that a rock makes when it hits your tow truck if you enter our "ghetto" areas of the island to tow a car.....especially trespass tows. Sorry...just had to add that...happenned to one of the towers I know the other night, and he said exactly that...sounded like a really big "boom"............ Eric

I think Ed summed up the "Boom" on the rear of the truck... As for the inside of the vehicle doing the "towing" this one sounds pretty good in my truck. (except when looking for addresses and backing up I found this on Rhapsody the other day and loaded it into my MP3 ... I'd love to hear this in "Tribalvision" (you know your gonna Steve
