I have a 03 5500 with the 6.6 DMAX. The voltage gauge is showing 12 volts running. No charge lights are on tho. My manual tester shows the charging system to
be 11.75 to 12.1 volts. This truck has the dual generator setup on it if that makes a difference.
I pulled one of the alternators off and sent it down to be bench tested. They said it was not charging and sold me a new one. Came back, put it on, still at 12 volts. Pulled the other alternator off, sent it to be bench tested and it shows okay.
I put 3 new batteries in it as well. When I check the charging voltage, I am checking it at the batteries (engine running of course) and I am checking it at the back of the alternator. Same readings.
Anybody been thru this? If so, what was your fix? Everytime I try to get into it, I gotta put the truck on the road.
