Posts: 4327 08/05/2008 20:32	Tags : None Well I had one of those accidents again, that nobody quite knows what happened. Anyway I had a broken side mirror. So I called my local GM dealer to order a side mirror. Having replaced one before I thought no big deal. so I ordered the part off the vin number. Well when I picked up the new mirror and brought it back to the shop and installed it. It was a entirely different mirror than the one on the other side of the truck. So I called back to the parts department and ask what's up? The parts mgr explains to me that GM has had a design change and that mirror is no longer available. I am really kinda of con fussed because that was the whole propose of only buying OEM parts so they would match up to whats already on the trucks. Well after two days of trying to gat to the bottom of it. I lead to believe that this is in fact what GM has done. The only way to get my mirrors to match is to buy the other one that's not broken to match the other new one. I did get a pretty discount one the second mirror. but still do not understand why GM would change there design and force everybody who needs mirror to buy two.Just wondering if anyone else has experienced a similar problem with a mirror replacement. Posts: 4330 08/06/2008 15:22	Kam, No actually the arm is a different length and there is a notch in the new mirrors. That's right now I have two new mirrors, is was the only way they were going to match. So i was forced to buy one for the other side of the truck. And they do not match my 2008 C-5500 mirrors either. Which I thought was odd. If GM had a design change, why didn't they include it on there new model. I just ordered a new 09, and am curious to see if that truck is going to have the new mirrors. Posts: 109 08/21/2008 07:40	Slightly less material, cost cutting. LOL Maybe trimming that little piece off helped with wind noise? I don't think we have a wind noise problem on ours though, and ours are the "old" style. Just replaced one 2 months ago, no design changes then. Interesting.

Posts: 4447 08/22/2008 08:37	Well one of the two new mirrors I did put one on the truck broke from the vibration on the Interstate. Hm seems as if the design wasn't designed well at all. I haven't had a chance to return it to the dealer yet. So I had to re-install the "old design" back on the truck. So now my mirror's are different on each side of the truck. The '08 has the same design as your new mirror, where it changes at the convex mirror. My guess is makes it easier to adjust? Easier to clean? *Member of the Michigan Troll Association©*

I certainly hope they are not built like the one I just bought form my medium duty dealers parts dept. Are you running around with 2 different styles on one truck? Reason I ask is I just busted my drivers side mirror on my 2006. I am hoping you broke and replaced your passenger side, and you need a new drivers side to match. If that is the case, I will order a new drivers side and swap with you. This way we would have both matched. But something tells me you broke the drivers side, too. I talked to Beau at 419-227-9047. I ordered the replacement mirror for the drivers side and they shipped the new style. Rather than send it back, I odered a passneger side so they match and will keep the old passenger side for my 2003 wrecker, as a spare. Posts: 98 04/07/2009 20:57	Kam,, Winegardner is only about 20 miles from me, and i've bought a lot of parts, tires, wheels from them. it's unbelievable what all he carries --- international 4300 doors, mirrors, seats, chevy and gm parts,, pickup wheels and tires new take-offs, just about anything you can imagine. and he's cheap too!
