jacknife car hauler...... |
Lead | ||
|
Wed. 7-2 received a call from the T-pike authorities to respond to the 81 mm n/b for a jackknife car hauler on the jersey wall with a major fuel/oil leak. FHP
had also contacted the customers tow co. as an owners request which in turn called out a second area tower for back up. We arrived before the area towers and I
immediately worked on recovering the t/t from the wall and pulling it to the emergency lane as requested, while our emergency response team was working on the
fuel/oil clean up. 3-vehicles had shifted on the trailer almost coming off and 1-vehicle did come off and rolled over on the s/b lanes (pic #2 shows veh in the
s/b lanes). Once out of the jackknife rotatorman(kauffs) which was the back up for the O/R tower helped out by picking the rear of the p/u truck at the front
of the trailer while I picked the front and we reset it back onto the trailer, than I reset the 2-other vehicles at the rear. We than released the t/t on scene
to the O/R tower.

Byron those are 12 ton swivels they weigh about 50lbs apeice it's like a set of wieghted balls but they swivel and when I do recovery work all I do is take
them off no tools needed if you pick something with one line it won't rotate either they are very handy
