A question for UD wrecker builders. |

I have a really nice 2004 UD2000 cab and chassis that I want to build into a wrecker. My first choice of bodies is a Jerr Dan Cougar. But, I've been told
that the air parking brake canisters are in the way of the underlift. Is there a similar body that would fit without modifying the air parking brake chamber
locations? I'd like one in the 12 ton range but I'm not too fussy.

We have done several of these. You have to reverse the backing plates & the air cans to the front of the axle. The nice thing about the UD is the parts
swap from one side to the other, no holes to drill, or parts to buy. Be carefull, those springs have ALOT of pressure on them. We factor two guys & eight
hours to do the job.

Thanks Arnott! What wrecker body would you say is ideal for this chassis? I think an aluminum Jerr Dan Cougar is the ultimate. I used to own an aluminum
Cougar and I loved it.

I agree a cougar might be a little much for a 2000 Chassis. What a great truck though! Let's get some pictures coming!

Notice how narrow the rear end is? you don't have to run flare on the UD. We have done the smaller 2" flare, but you don't need to with a UD.
