TOW trucks have been targeted by NSW Police in a recent highway sting.

The Bankstown Highway Patrol conducted Operation Tilt earlier this week stopping a number of vehicles in the Bankstown area.

Working in conjunction with specialist officers from the Roads and Maritime Services issued infringements for 'Drive motor vehicle not carry licence', 'Use unregistered registerable Class B motor vehicle on road', 'Drive unlicensed tow truck without drivers certificate', 'Carry on tow truck business without licence' and 'Driver not prevent waste oil/grease dropping on roadway'.

One driver was found to not hold authority to drive a tow truck, having had his application for same rejected previously by the RMS.

Previous operations by the Bankstown Highway patrol in 2014 uncovered a number of unlicensed operators and individuals who could not produce a schedule to tow.
