Posts: 10183 10/22/2006 20:30 Featured Member July 2007 2007 Tow411 Member-of-the-Year Michigan Forum Moderator	Tags : None Received notice today from General Motors stating "the fuel injectors in some 2003 model year GMC Topkick vehicles eqipped with a 6.6 Duramax may require replacement because of high fule return rates due to fuel injector body cracks, or ball seat erosion, or high pressure seal extrusion. Symtoms of these conditions include illumination of the service engine soon light, low engine power, hard to start, and/or fuel in crank case." They are saying it's not a recall. Yet it came from their Recall Processing Center. General Motors is providing owners with additional protection for the fuel injectors. If problems occur within 7 years or 200,000 from the date of new, they will replace them at no charge! If you have repaired them already, they will reimburse. We decide to wait to see if other have same problem, no sense in tearing the damn thing down 8 times (the GM way). Recall comes about. Take it in, and they find nothing wrong. I was on vacation and they put it back together and send her home. We tell them to look over the history records. Boy is their face red. Posts: 5 01/20/2007 02:33	WE HAD these problem and since have sent them down the road.. fuel rail pressure is 6ooo psi.. nice to hear a recall finally . and watch for the allison tranys switch to short out with the wet snow and salt. later FTRTC

Posts: 124 01/24/2007 10:12 WreckMaster #001779 New Jersey	My 2005 just turned 150K engine surges real bad at idle, but has excellent power, burns no oil, and always starts. My friend had one of those early Duramax's and the crank broke on it. My Allison trans had shift problem, dealer replaced sensor, better than new. Should have learned my lesson with my 6.5 diesel in my 95 wrecker but love the truck too much to get rid of it.

Posts: 25 12/14/2007 09:28 Kentucky	my 03 c4500 is making oil ! . changed it and in a week its like a gallon over full ! took it to dealer and was told that they tested everything and all tested great . all injectors are testing perfect ! says that there is another test where they hook up in the fuel rails between each injector , but if the do this and still find no problem , i will have to pay for the test . in fact , i already have to pay for the first test because it tested good . dealer svc manager did say there was a bit of fuel in the oil .

Posts: 27 12/16/2007 08:42 Kentucky	dealer service manager says that the gm rep told him to get the oil level on full and run it awhile and try to re-create the fuel in oil senario . guess gm doesnt want to take our word for it that we have changed the oil two times in two weeks and in a weeks time its a gallon over full again .

Posts: 194 12/19/2007 15:48	Ours filled the crankcase and we had the local dealer replace all 8 injectors at no charge under a (policy) type recall. All we paid for is the oil and misc. stuff. No problems since and none with our 2005 at all.

Posts: 29 12/19/2007 20:51 Kentucky	dealer service mgr called today telling me that he had good news and bad news . good = they found where the fuel is getting in the oil . he says that the fuel return lines at the injectors are leaking ! like all of them ! bad= not covered under warranty . claims its 7 or 8 hundred to fix it . i dont see how they could all be leaking .

Posts: 91 12/27/2007 00:23 WreckMaster #070087	injector o-rings, cups, seals whatever you or they want to call them can and will fail. return lines, crossover, passthrus will fail with heat and age. is your fuel turning blackish color in the fuel tank? if so then it's baking the fuel in the head and return lines thus creating more than what would be normial heat build up in the fuel lines. miantaining a good clean fuel system can be as easy as adding fuel treatment and injector cleaner every week such as... power service anti gel with cetane boost.... or fppf fuel treatment inj cleaner. todays deisel fuel (ultra low sulfur) doesn't seem to agree with our older motors and fuel systems. our trucks seem to do better with additves. ol yea don't forget the lucas!! Posts: 122 09/02/2008 22:09 Michigan	I know this is an older post but it seems to be an ongoing issue with our trucks and this time, GM say's it's the wrong sort of problem. No 8 injector is bad, been replaced before just a little over a year ago....what the hell could be "different" about it now? Any suggestions???
