I own 7 GM vehicles. Anyone want a new fleet? I have owned 2 GMC 5500's and will never own another.
One of
them took 11 trips to the dealer for the air compressor.
This does not count the 4 times it broke down for engine
problems and other problems. I sold that one after 2
years of use. I have had the other one for 1 1/2 years
and it has had 5 trips to the dealer for the same
problem. This does not count the other 2 times it has
broke down for the fuel pump. The compressor operates the
seat and exhaust brake. The problem is, the brakes wear
out twice as fast without it. 
Spoke to
the regional rep from GM Friday still with no solution.
They straight wired my truck's air compressor the last
time now the compressor has turned on and will not turn
off.
Due to
the wiring job we can not unplug the
compressor.
I told
him that I could not do without the truck for a week
while they attempted to find a solution.
I asked
if he could get me a loaner from the dealer (they sale
used and new wreckers) and he said no. I advised that I
was not some punk 16 year old kid with a cavalier that
this truck pays my bills. He proceeded to laugh at me and
said the only thing that could be done is to bring it in
and put another compressor on it. I told him that maybe
they should fix the problem instead of doctoring it. The
dealer called me later and advised me that he called them
and told them to just put what ever it needed to get it
going again and give it back. 
When I
told him that I would sell every GM vehicle I owned, he
told me to go ahead. Most of my trucks are GM including
my 2 personal vehicles. 2 words "FOR
SALE". Life is about the journey, not the destination.

But it still works.. I've had mine 9 months for a
total of 35,000 miles so.. you know what that means...???
LOL Well see how she does after warranty? I'm about the
only driver for this truck and I don't gouge on it when
taking off. This is also the first I've heard about the
fuel tanks on Chevy's .. I know the Ford F-650's had the
same problem and was eatin up fuel pumps and didn't want
to replace the tanks either so 
I guess it don't matter what ya got.
