IAA Question

Posts: 10 Jan 20 13 6:58 PM	Tags : None So I get a call last week from IAA stating they are building a new facility near me and looking for bids to haul their cars, I've never done any work for coparts or such and have no idea how to bid it other than what I think my company can do it for and still turn a profit, I know the volume will factor some but I've been scratching my head and crunching numbers for days and need some help. Any of you guys towing for them? Are they truly giving that kind of volume? Any advice about prices would be greatly appreciated.

[I know the volume will factor some] I separated the two most important sentences in your post. 1. That's the only way to bid ANY work for anybody 2. Volume matters not at all. You're either making a profit, breaking even, or losing money - whether it's 1 car or 1,000 the end result is the same. It's either profitable or it's not. Just things to think about. My opinion, anyway! Richard

Posts: 176 Feb 2 13 2:14 PM West Virginia Incomplete Listing	Where are they building a new facility? Have they started on it yet? I would wonder if it is going to be a permanent facility or a temporary one to help distribute the storm cars. I guess what I am saying is this could be a long term contract that could benefit you by towing a little cheaper (not for peanuts, just a volume discount) or a get in and get out contract where you would want to be compensated for the wear and tear to your equipment in a short period of time.
