Yep thats just one of the great features of a Grant wrecker, the booms extend/retract nice and smooth fully loaded.

So am I to understand the 110 Ton wrecker will have (2) two physical booms? Not (1) one boom with (2) two winch lines? Will the (2) two booms raise lower and
extend independently? This is hard to picture in my mind seeing (1) one this is a Holmes conversion? I have owned 750's, 850's and still own a modified
1701 (Larger Bore Boom lift cylinders).... I can't wait to see the pics... I am impressed with the 85 ton conversion..Looks like a real beast... Be
safe... Steve

Steve, I haven't seen the unit but from talking to Kirby and other people I believe it one boom with two independent booms inside, like I say I have not
seen it but I hear it is a monster of a rig. Scott

hpgtowing wrote: Steve..... I have pics.... Kirby asked we not distribute them..... it is a single boom with two independent inners.... it has many other features that I cannot talk about but are specifically suited to the towing industry and types of vehicles we deal with.... Kirby as always has taken ideas from his head and put them into a work of art that is more functional then you could ever imagine... The pictures I have are of an incomplete truck.... taken months ago by my dad.... all I can say is I wish I had the money and time for one of these units... It would be more useful than a tator.... and who knows... maybe he will make one into a tator one day.

It's hard to imagine in my head? 2 booms in 1 tube? The only advantage is one boom could be extended? And one boom retracted? This could be done on a
single fixed boom unit with a snatch block to a d-ring at the first or second stage? Maybe I'm imagining it wrong? If your unit has been sold? Then post
the pictures. It's gotta already be public if it's sold. If it's that good? I might have considered one for Kong? Gotta be in it? To win it!
Can't buy what we can't see? Steve

Steve
I was at Kirby's 2 weeks ago and one unit is already gone to the owners shop to be painted, when they get it painted its going back to Kirby's for the Cables to be installed on the winches. I don't have any pics of the unit but it is very Awesome. 2 more units are almost finished and he is already starting on a third unit that is already sold is what Kirby told me. When I was there about 3 months ago he backed the unit that he built for himself up to his hi-rail train Crane that weighs 88,000 lbs. and extended 1 boom all the way out and hook to rear of crane and then back a 30 ton 600 Holmes conversion wrecker of his to the side and hoked on the the other boom and lifted it all off the ground about 3 feet with just ease. after doing this he said look at this and he then extended the rear stiff legs and it raised the load another 4 or 5 inches off the ground. It is just amazing what Kirby can do. I will be going to his shop again sometime this week and I will see if I can get some updated pictures to post. |

Nothing like some pictures to create some "buzz" and sell some units. I would think it would help his production? Is he waiting to "debut"
this unit at a show or something? It sounds pretty interesting but like Steve said, hard to visualize.
Thanks,
Ed |

No Ed.. he is 28 unit behind last we talked to him... he has money down on most.... but as he is a small operation and everything is hand made pretty much it
is slow going.... This unit is a monster...

How does anyone sell 28 units if no one can see them?

Word of mouth I am assuming. Obviously, there had been people who knew already before this post.
I'm sure he has a pretty decent following. If someone was looking..? I'm sure they would of went to his place and looked it over or he would of sent pictures to a real interested party. ![]() "60% of the time, I am right every time." |

Those who know about Kirby Grant dont have to see it,If he say's it that is all it takes. His equipment is trully awesome!!!!!! In my
opinion, I dont think he is looking for a large scale assembly line for production. More like a B&B assembly rate only slower HAHAHAHA!!!
