I don't know where to post this...but I'm leaving for Alaska for a week. The wife, fam and I are heading up for a 7 day cruise out of Seattle, WA.

You will have a great time, this is probably the best weather you could ask for. Are you going to the southern area Ketchican-Juneau? I have gone fishing in
Yakutat a couple of times. The Glaciers are incredible, & your kids will love the train ride out of Skagway if you have that option Say hi to Uzek at Orcas
Tow, you'll probably float past his place if you are sailing out of Seattle. Best of all, enjoy the time with your family & the cell phone off.

You will love it. Wife and I just got back from our first cruise. (New Orleans to Cozumel and Progresso).
What line are you going on? Norwegian? What ports? Let us know your experience as the wife and I are contemplating an Alaskan cruise next summer. I have been to AK many times but never on a cruise there. PS You can get internet service but it aint cheap.

Daniel, good for you and your family. Sit back, relax, and let the cruise line staff wait on you. We've done a cruise the last 5 years. It's a good way
to get away from everything and unwind. We've never done the Alaskan cruise but I hear it's beautiful. Enjoy yourselves!!!!!

Well, I just got back. What a great time! The cruise was Princess Line (Golden Princess). I have been on a few cruises before and this one has to be my
favorite...not to mention it was COOL weather.
We did so much...from Seattle, WA to Juneau, Skagway and Ketchikan, AK to Victoria, B.C. it was all great. This was in Juneau in front of Mendenhall glacier, just before we went whitewater rafting in 36 degree water.
The guide told us this was Chuck Norris' summer home right on the river.

Really great pics, Daniel.
Thanks a lot for posting them. I'd have to say that number three on that train I liked the best. How long was the train ride? And how long, or far, is the Jeep excursion? Do they make you follow them on a trail?
I have not failed, I have found 10,000 ways that won't work.

Thanks everyone.
The train ride was 4 hours total (about 1 hour too long). It went 3,000 feet up a mountain. The Jeep trip started in a canoe across a black water rain river in a valley. We then got into Jeeps with many other people. We had to follow the guides in all of the activities. The Jeeps all had 4 wheel drive and needed it! We climbed mountain sides with rough roads up to where the picture was taken. Daniel Wade |
