A tow truck driver was killed by a hit-and-run driver early this morning on Interstate 71 a mile south of the Franklin and Pickaway county line.
Matthew Shilling, 35, of Orient, was standing outside his tow truck, attaching a car that had been involved in an earlier crash, when he was struck by a passing vehicle, witnesses told authorities.
Shilling was hit at about 1:50 a.m. and was pronounced dead at Mount Carmel West hospital.
The Circleville post of the State Highway Patrol is working to identify the hit-and-run driver.
