Had 1 once but the wheel fell off! |

Funny noise from the front end. Called his buddy who said bring it straight over 1st thing in the morning. So, after going for breakfast, a bit of shopping and
stopping at his insurance company, he attempted to drive to his buddy's house.
Now, how the heck would you get this out of here? And how long would it take?

well just my thought ( it might be right or wrong ) but i would jack it up and put a wheel skate under rotor and load it on rollback carrier or get service
truck to bring some studs and air tools and put studs back in hub and put spare back on
time frame would depend but i figure about 30 min. to 1 hr an half tops |

it would take a little effort but that looks like a great tow for a sling

What's a flatbed? Out of 80 veh we have 3 flatbeds! I had to used a wheel lift. I love the "Broken Balljoint Skate" a little mod and it would
work in a wheel lift too! How would you get the jack under this car?

I got this call the other night ago, came in as a tire change, well when I get there I found this useing the same technique....only put a tire skate under the front of the 4x4, and leave the veh in park, it will slide right on up the bed
and On You Go....

Wrecker op I would put the jack on the pinch weld where ever it would fit looks to be near the back end of the door jack up enough to get a 4x4 block under the
cowl move my jack forward jack up again until I could get more wood under there or keep jacking until I could get my Ball Joint skate in place. How did you get
the wheellift under it? Any pictures of this car loaded on your wheellift? Thanks for looking Frank

I used the Pan Pillow to lift enough for my jack to slide under the subframe. Blocked the control arm to reposition the jack for L-arm clearance. Slid a 4x4
under the conrol arm on top of the L-arm & grid, then lift & strap as tight as practical.

It seems that most evrybody uses a carrier these days. I'm running a 2005 F450 with a Jerr Dan HPL35. Total time about 15 minutes including putting out traffic cones! Thanks for looking & giving me some ideas! Edited for picture size

damn got here too late :P
I've done a couple like this...both on a deck and a wrecker. Deck was pretty similair to how others mentioned, just got a banged a skate under the rotor and slid it the deck. Wrecker was pretty much identacle to that except I used a piece of 2x6 to lay the control arm on instead and used the jack near the back and using wood move it farther up. |

Just did one with my selfloader..... Lifted from good side blocked up bad side.... Loaded on grid like normal... a little extra straps and blocking... and off
to the repair shop in about 10 min....Backed in to bay and they put it on a lift....No extra damage and $100 bill for a 8 mile tow....
Stay safe Tim

Very interesting I like it and the fact that you make extra labor money. Wrecker Op like you said with a little modification to my Ball Joint Skate would work
out fine or how about a pan that would fit the wheellift like an old dolly wheel pan.

not that it happends often.. but make sure that rotor is not lose enough to fall out during tow..
(usually the caliper will prevent it from falling off.. but always check it) stay safe Rod |

Yeah you guys are real nice!! In the city we dont play all that with the wheel skates and jacks! I even saw one guy with wood tracks for the rim! If the driver
is stupid enough to get the rim like that then screw it. I had plenty of this and I just dragged the car on the bed. If I have a wheellift I just sling it!

i actually had 2 lhs's last week where the tire just fell off. had to wheel lift one 15 miles to a mechanic. all studs were broke off too. rotor was still
snug in the caliper....well i thought so...but when i arrived at destination the rotor was long gone...it was in total shambles anyway so no big loss at all.

What kind of attitude is that to have besides NOT a very Professional one "but when i arrived at destination the rotor was long gone...it was in total
shambles anyway so no big loss at all. " It would have been a very big loss had it went through somebodies windshield!!!

well considering that it was on a one way country road....than like i said no big loss..didnt worry about car comin out of the wheel lift since i had it
chained and strapped down. i did the job professionally and got paid so in my opinion.....job well done, but thanks for your opinion anyways oh and by the way,
when i said it was in total shambles i was referring to the rotor, not the car
