No room to work/Leaning vac truck |
Lead | ||
|
Got a call from this customer stating he needed a really big truck that could get his vac truck that was leaning badly , out of his driveway. There was no
room to work and the bank was about 20 feet to the bottom. No trees to run snatch blocks , well there were trees but not where I needed them. I could not back
up far enough to boom over and lift the rear out so I had to hold and winch. I placed a continuous loop strap at the rear wheel and ran it over an oak 4x6 to
prevent hitting the body, then I ran a low line to my rear outrigger and across to the pull hook. I ran the chain over the pull hook and then around the spring
hanger to avoid hitting the bumper. When the truck was almost all of the way out I had to shorten my chain to gain another foot of pull. It was not a hard pull
but very tight working conditions and the rotator made life easier..

By the looks of that underlift in a couple of pictures it looks like you hardly work that workhorse, HA HA HA. Nice looking unit. Need to get me one or two of
those foundry hooks.

Yes I do work it a little The calcium they put on the roads does not
help it much, I should be painting the wheel lift pretty soon. And yes the foundry hooks are great. we have a couple of sets of 1/2 inch ones and I believe
they are better for lifting trailers. Mine are too long to put in some pockets of a trailer. but I do use them most of the time..

Looks good Rich, pretty tight working area for sure. What do they weigh, did they say?
Your left side panel on the outrigger looks like it has the "wood-grain" kit from a Town & Country wagon......
Thanks,

Ed It weighs 31000, It is the first one I had seen like that , it had all external piping across both sides. all of the ones I had towed before were regular vac trucks with hose reels and a suck hose in the front. I always knew that vac trucks Sucked
