Lovin' my new aluminum dolly axles!! |
Lead | ||
|
I have run a wheellift/dolly unit for a few years now with steel dolly axles and hated to use the dollies. The boss just recently gave me a set of
aluminum/telescoping dolly axles!!! I'll dolly any damn thing I have to, now!! I wished I had them years ago!!!

Matt, they are sweet! Bought me a set a couple years ago and they are fantastic. The only problem I had was the hookup inserts in the end started giving and would not stay tight due to the rough dirt & pasture roads which is about 60% of my dolley work. Finally gave up and went back to my steel bars. For highway use, you cannot beat them. |

I loved them too. The problem I found with them is that they were not wide enough if the pickup you were towing had after market wheels and tires. The ones I
used had steel inserts, so no wear problems.

Yeah, the aluminum ones seem to be about 2/3 lighter. I replaced the steel ones on both my light duty wreckers. We still have the steel ones just in case we
need them from time to time.

Hope things are well out in the sunny Hill Country, Ron. I am leaving here shortly to pick up a boom lift in Marble Falls and take it to Brenham.
I'm looking forward to the pretty trip!!

I just learned how to use dollys a week or 2 ago. We have the steels on our F550 so I can only imagine how nice the aluminum ones would be.

We had a failure with our ITD dolly's on Friday which was disappointing. I have to call them to see what they are going to do about it if anything. We use
them with the aluminum adjustable axles and they worked pretty good.
Thanks,

Nice.
Did you get the 4-hole In The Ditch ones, or the 3-hole collins? Out of 8 autoloaders in our fleet, 6 have aluminums crossbars. They feel like tooth picks compared to the steels. |

Ed, ITD should take good care of you - We had a failure on a crossbar end and the sent a new one right out!
