Quick Swap Units? |
Lead | ||
|
I have considered a quick swap unit to use with the truck that currently is used with the Landoll trailer. I reason for this is to conserve on insurance with
the use of one tractor. The insurance savings would pay for the unit in a short time. Has anybody done this and how did it work out? Yes, I do realize the
limitations that would be! These are pictures I took at the Florida Tow Show in 2003 or about that time.

excellant opportunity to do, We run an NRC quick swap on a pete 379 that we also use to run our landoll and detach trailers. my only suggestion is to have 2
seperate air leveling valves to control each axle separtly for better weight distribution. My Pete is a tri axle and it handles very very well, I haul
anything from 80K full units, front load packers, FRAC tanks, box trucks, and yes have hauled pickups when needed.

I put a Zacklift 303 Fifthwheeler on a 2001 Pete 379 back in October. I love it. I should have done it a long time ago. I looked at all of the and I choose the
Zacklift. The Pete is 261" wheelbase, 475hp Cat, 18 speed and it handle it perfectly. It comes of in just a few minutes so you can grab a trailer.

I have a triple k unit that i used to take on and off but i got tired of swapping them out. Took two people to take on and off. I ended up bought a longer
truck and dedicated the unit to it. I did however set the wetline up on the second truck to pull the landoll if needed.
here is the old set up
here is pic of unit under the lift we built for the quick swap.
the new truck for the unit.
1987 ford ltl 9000. 425 cat, 15spd, 280 wb. this unit does alot better. longer and has more ass. this truck does 90% of all my heavy towing and 100% of my med towing. I was able to buy the ford at a real good price so leaving the triple k on seemed like the most efficent thing to do. ryan |

Ever thought about a Tru-Hitch??? Takes some getting used to but being able to tow Mixers and dump trucks... as well as fire trucks on your landoll
tractor.... once you get used to it they really do not take much more to hook up.
