Looks like a long, hard pull.

hard pull there, glad it worked out...and you got those important ruts filled back in for the land owner....nothing like stopping in the middle of a job to
deal with something that could be resolved later............

Quote[ Would I risk breaking one on a job like this? You bet. And I'd never think twice about it. Thanks for the replies]
I don't agree with this at all ,to do this job and exept the fact you tore you truck up and its just part of the job is horses### you took the time to remove the landing gear I agree was a good call but if you cant pull it with out tearing it up put more trucks on the job! If you don't have more trucks then get another company to help you.But when you let your ego tear up a truck just to say you pulled it out doesn't impress anyone and im sure if a driver where paying for the damage himself thet might think twice. I think your recovery was a succes but your mind set to get it out no matter the cost leaves me less than impressed ![]() ![]() ![]()

Rotatorman- This is where we differ. The truck is definitely not torn up. You're acting like I pulled the tailboard or the outriggers off of the
wrecker. The composite panel was damaged on a recovery we did last summer, which I posted on here back in June or July. I said I wasn't worried about
breaking a $300 panel on a multi-thousand dollar job. And I'm still not worried about it. The job is done, the bill has been settled, and the panel was
fixed this afternoon in less than an hour. No painting required, just a little fiberglass to fill in the 3 bolt holes that were pulled loose, and some new
screws to secure it.
I see the point you are trying to make, but it is a mute point. This wasn't my first rodeo, and I could care less if you, or any other driver for that matter, are impressed. It's not my goal to impress you or anyone else. My goal is to handle the task at hand. I made the decision to continue with the equipment that we had on scene, and my decision stands.

The job is done, the bill has been settled, and the panel was fixed this afternoon in less than an hour. No painting required, just a little fiberglass to fill in the 3 bolt holes that were pulled loose, and some new screws to secure it.Already fixed... Believe me, I don't like tearing anything up. Especially a wrecker that I paid for myself. But it doesn't help me a bit to pull another heavy off of a $1200 tow because I'm trying to save $300.Big picture theory... Hard looking pull, got it out without incident, and dealt with aftermath of "friendly" towing company and property owner. Covered the bases from start to finish (as far as I can see anyway...) take the check to the bank, have a nice day .
And for the "lurker" Lamb never mentioned a name or company. There's a saying we use here in Texas dealing with guilt (or percieved guilt) a hit dog will holler everytime. If this statement is misplaced then my apologies in advance but its strange that you popped out after Lamb made his statement.
I hear and I forget, I see and I remember, I do and I understand.

I don't know what year your bed is on the one with the loose panel but my old jd had the same problem(2000 model) and it is a matter of the screws coming loose first and then they wont tighten anymore as i am sure you know i love the composite bed for a lot of things that is not one of them like you said easy fix and i am sure there are many jd owners with the same problem learned a lot about them with my first one lol looks like a fine job to me down to the last grain of sand George |
