Even cruder,,,,,,,long bungee around both brake and clutch up to steering wheel. Worked like a charm,, lol.

Also while your poking around and checking, is your clutch adjusted properly? While your down there greasing the pivots on bellhousing and throwout bearing in
bottom of trans lube up all pivots on pedal side as well as where cable attaches to bell housing. There is supposed to be a pull back...

I have a 2000 GMC 6500 that has the button just left of the steering wheel. Check your brake pedal but also check your clutch. If you look under the dash at
the clutch pedal there is a switch to let the computer know the clutch is pressed. If you have a little slack in the clutch pedal it doesn't engage. A
quick check is to hold the clutch up and check your high idle button. If that does it you can adjust the clutch cable or unplug the switch and either jumper
the switch or a little...

You're more than welcome, Jerold. Just trying to do my part to give back to the community whose been an absolute wealth of knowledge.
(there's some pretty smart peeps here)

But I've had 3 of these trucks (w/Allison trannies) and if my clumsy foot happened to slightly brush against the brake pedal, or sometimes just when
loading the deck, the bumping around would sometimes jar it enough to disengage the fast idle. So that's where I'd start the hunt.

Might want to check your brake light switch. I'm not sure if there's any adjustment on them or not...but I'd check the connections as well as
making sure that it's still mounted securely. I know on my 03 6500, all it takes is an ugly look at the brake pedal and the darned thing idles down..

Internally, the switch seems to be really sensitive in that any kind of movement opens the circuit and down go the RPMs....and YES it *does* get frustrating
...Grrrr!
