Ok not quite as smooth as the KW. With the cost of the alcoas and the centering sleeves it was 2 grand. I wish I had done it a year ago. I towed a car to Denver today and at 70mph there was no vibration where as before you couldn't go over 50mph the vibration was so violent. And no I don't work for them.

I had the problem with my 07 GMC took it back to the dealer. They rebalanced the tires which didn't help. It still shook from 52mph up. I talked to our tire guy who said he had the cure.The wheels are hub piloted but the wheels have slop between the center and the hub, which creates an excentric condition. I decided to dress it up with alcoa wheels and installed the TRU-BALANCE centering sleeves he told me about. What a difference!! Smooth as my air ride KW.

Thanks for all the input but i finally just got rid of the problem ''sold'' I put a set of shocks on the truck at 49000mi did not fix the problem. My competitor and good friend also has a 5500 has some issues ''viberates, dash falling out '' he fixed the dash with a small piece of 3/16 angle iron under the dash in the middle from the windshield bottom to just behind the gauge cluster then some 3M glue. Better than new that's for sure still drive like...

yes you are right about the org shock`s must the time they suck, but shock`s won`t stop a vib like he is talking, i`m thinking a steering damper will stop it,

Agreed about the steering dampner.

The problem is some times it can mask other problems. Other times its the answer. I'm thinking it couldn't hurt here.

the factory wheel end shocks suck. Even if they don't look warn or have obvious defects a good replacement shock can do wonders

steering damper shock is not the front shock`s, it`s mounted to the frame then to the center link to help control front end from left to right movement not up and down movement it`s some thing they have been using for 40 year`s or so,more so on truck`s

haveing gone through this with a high end 5500 used to pull a living quarters horse trailer. First off is SHOCKS SHOCKS AND SHOCKS. the factory front shocks suck at best and most trucks dont even come equiped with rear shocks.

Second is bent rims.

If you swapped to known good rolling tires and wheels and it still had the problem i would start looking at hub runout.

Third is AIR ride rear suspension. Makes a difference.

Haven't yet no B.S. I can't seem to find the time but I will monday or tuesday will get back to u on it though I think it will work I have had some dodge's that started to drive bad put a new one on drove great they were notorious for that happening.untill then thanks wonder if kam figured out what a steering damper was yet???????? LOL

Going on my 4th set of tires stock GOODYEAR second and the ones now are michellins can tell u I drove my friends 5500 today his has a bad vib at about 62MPH quess they all have it in them the nearest shop that's got anybody worth a damn is 65mi away so don't have much of an option i've got seven wrecker's and only 3 driver's including ME so i can't do it eighter Oh yea...

Keith take it back to the dealership and have them check the rims. We have swapted rims and had 2 bad sets. If the rims are ok it will be the tires. I 'd say you have goodyears. It will be one of the 2. I'd say bad rims. Keep me informed.

a steering damper may not be installed when new, but you may add one on it it will make a diffance good luck i`ll will be looking on here so let me know

It has alcoas on it the dealer took a new set off a 07 chevy did the same thing. thanks but i don't think u can make it drive better. Checked with the dealer today going to check into steering dampener. New truck on the way FORD F-650 with a SP8000 wish me luck cummins auto air brake air ride drives and rides great.but its a ford.

I had the same problem on my 06 6500 since it was new. Took it and had the front end checked, everything ok. Mine only happenes between 60 and 65. Did you try it without wheel simulators?

Major shakin between 60 and 70 mph. 2006 GMC tires wear out every 25000mi no mater what tired of it been in shop 9 times been to 3 different frontend shops put tires and wheels off of another chevy still same problem truck will shake ur teeth out of ur head 1`st 5500 last one too!!!!!! granddad been sellin chevy for 53 years love chevys got 3 more 6500 2002 C6500 talked to several other people they have had similar problems any suggestions?????
