Very nice recovery!!! Can anyone post more pics of compound blocking? Darwin at Ryan's Towing used to do all that rigging to pull some heavy stuff out of the mine pits.

Several years ago (ain't telling how many) I had two snatch blocks on a Holmes 850 that had side straps that made a bottom loop for the slip hooks on the end of my cables. Pulled one in two at the bottom loop and never did use the other after that. Went to McKissick 12 ton Champions after that. Found out in later years that Holmes quit offering these type blocks with new trucks. They surely did work good though. Pulled a pipeline (36") under a 4 lane highway once. Rigging is...

Andreas: VERY well done and well-planned recovery. Couple of questions if I may:

- On the 2x cascade: I am assuming one end terminates at the 1x cascade off the bed of the truck, then thru the double eyed snatch block, back to the frontloader, thru that snatch block and terminates again at the double eyed snatch block?

- Would it matter which cable went where on the double eyed snatchblock? (Termination of the 2x versus the 6x cascade?)

- What size cable was used...

Im sorry, but would it be possible for you to post more pics of where your winches are mounted? I didnt see a boom so I am assuming they are drag winches? Maybe just a picture of the bed of your truck?

Are you joking? do you know what kind of damage the average light-duty driver would do with hydraulic stiff-legs? & a four wheel drive tow truck means you get 100ft further & twice as stuck, atleast in area. Actually, as the average size of cars in america gets smaller, & the need for fuel economy increases so will the popularity of smaller tow trucks. Nice recovery, here is a picture of my old...

I love it.............awesome truck .. amazing recovery, snatch blocks were definately your friend on that one, iv often heard that you can do anything with enough snatch blocks but never saw it until now..............a young guy like myself could learn alot from your post, please keep adding these unbeleivable jobs thanks Bryce Stapley

This is one we did a few years ago. An excavator weighing 23000kg (~51000lbs) got stuck far away from the nearest road. Because the ground was very soft, the only wrecker we were able to drive there was our Toyota Landcruiser. We also had a frontloader and another excavator at our disposal. We used them as anchors but all pulling was done with the 2500kg (5500lbs) winch on the Toyota!

Last picture shows how we set everything up.
