Looking to upgrade our digital cameras...Just wondering what everyone is using and how they are working?
Points of concern:

Picture quality
Picture quality in dark settings(night shots)
How long the batteries last
How easy it is to use
Durability

Doing business COST for towing

Awhile ago, I saw a formula to figure out how much you would have to charge to make money doing a tow. I cant seem to find that formula in here. It was something about miles per gallon for your truck, plus some other figures to figure the cost out. Does anyone have that formula? Your help is appreciated....

I use Mandriva Powerpack as my back office software and Windows XP Pro as the front office. More than likely gonna scrap Windows alltogether in the very near future unless I have to keep it to run a modern towing dispatch software. Now if there is one available in Linux/Unix that would be a no brainer for us.

Yellow Pages

It's that time of year again, time to re-up with Ma Bell. Has anyone ditched their yellow page ad? We track no calls from the yellow pages and it is not cheap. We really don't need anymore and tire kickers are normally looking for someone cheaper than us anyhow. Thanks

Hazmat Surcharge

What is defined as a hazardous situation in order to deem it nessecary for a haz mat surcharge? We recently had a tanker down an embankment within 50 feet of a creek, it had 300 gallons of home heating oil on board. It was a fairly hard pull to bring it back up the embankment and the truck over turning was a concern. Would this small amount of fuel be enough to constitute a haz mat surcharge? Does anyone know of any problems with photobucket? I have not been able to log in for quite some time now. I have sent them numerous e-mails for several months now and have not gotten a response to any of them. Is there another way to post pics on Tow411 without going through photobucket?

Vehicle maintenance reports.

Hi guys, just wondering what small companies use for truck maintenance reports? Id like something computerized, so i can look back etc. But it would be nice to tag parts receipts to the report for warranty issues. I guess i could use word, or an excel spreadsheet, but they never end up being very "clean". Thanks, Dave.

I am looking to find a system where I can do all my invoicing and print reciepts in the truck and try to do away with the old pen and paper. I need it to be easily backed up and be able to transfer my data from one computer to another easily for my office help. Nasty Spyware - Antivirus XP 2008

Gang if you get a CNN News Alert, don't open it. I have seen this on 3 PC's now and its a bugger to get rid of. It loads a program called Antivirus XP 2008 and it asks you to purchase this product to get rid of the Spyware - but of course, it's just a scam.

If you have already been infected, let me know and I can help you get rid of it - I've had lots of practice already.

Cell Phones or Radios

We currently have radios in all of our trucks, and the drivers have to use there own cell phones. Which do you prefer Radios or Nextels/cell phones??? We had cell phones before and all the drivers burned the minutes for non work related stuff. We have 8 trucks and 6 operators, and in some places no Cell coverage, and in others no radio coverage in others.

I am curious, is there or has there been any updating of this concept I know that there are a lot of city;s county's and state's that have adopted this procedure when it first came into being, the base price was five cents with increments for weather, time day, hazardous material, etc...
